DHid

Unique identifier generated by Gridsz for each connection. Format: dhid1_1234567890 where dhid1 indicates it is fiber1 – alias: connection id

Search code

Combination of postal code, house number, extension, room number, which depending on the country, identifies a unique address. Format: |1234AA|123|A|app1 – alias: address code

BAG: Basisregistratie Adressen en Gebouwen

HAS: HuisAanSluiting

Dutch abbreviation for the connection to the home.

Attenuation

The reduction in optical power as it travels along a fiber, usually expressed in decibels (dB).

PON: Passive Optical Network

Fiber-optic network which unlike active optical networks does not require powered equipment for signal transmission.

ONT: Optical Network Terminal

Customer-side equipment responsible for converting optical signals into electrical signals that can be used by devices such as routers and computers.

OLT: Optical Line Terminal

Component which connects the optical fiber network to the broader internet or service provider network and manages the data traffic between the service provider and the end customer.

FTTH: Fiber to the Home

The distribution of communications services by providing fiber-optic connectivity all the way to each house.

PoP: Point of Presence

Physical location (or node) where two or more different networks or communication devices share a connection. Its architecture is designed to facilitate the flow of data between the local user and the broader network.
