Data management, import and export

This articles describes how to add, edit and (temporarily) override information in one or more Gridsz datasets. Besides manually editing one (or a limited selection of) records, the platform supports the import and export of data in CSV format. These imports and exports can be used incidentally or can be scheduled at a recurring interval. Whether users are able to perform these actions depends on their role permissions.

Add addresses

The data owner is allowed to manually add connections to existing datasets. This allows the network owner to flexibly manage for example new network connections and temporary data.

Once the manually added connections are also provided by its data source, the original data source data will act as the primary data. If the number of addresses to add is large, it is advised to use a CSV file to avoid manual work and human error.

Bulk edit

Similar to adding records manually, data can also be edited (in bulk). On the search results page, a user can select all or individual records and select the colums to update.

Manual override

In case the data in the original source is incomplete or temporarily needs to be displayed in another form to the users, the data owner is able to mask the original data using a manual override. The original data is still kept within Gridsz. When the manual override end date expires, the original value is displayed again. Without an end date, the override remains active until removed or until the data is matched again.

Manual disable and enable connections

Depending on their rights, users can disable/enable connections. A disabled connection is only visible for users with certain rights. A disabled connection needs to be manually enabled again. A connection that is disabled cannot be edited until it is enabled.

Import data rules

Designated users can set import data rules to take effect when uploading new addresses into Gridsz. Import data rules allow for bulk-editing of newly added connections, based off of unifying criteria that the connections possess. The data rule must be in effect before the new addresses get added. New data rules can be made permanent or can occur on a schedule set by the user. Furthermore, they can be edited and activated/deactivated. The Data rules are available from the Advanced settings from the top right menu.

Export data

The filtered data can be exported by the user into a CSV file. Gridsz provides two export options:

  • All columns: exports all columns of datasets the users is allowed to see
  • Current columns: exports only the columns visible on the screen.

Since the amount of total data columns could be extensive, by default Gridsz only shows a reduced set of columns necessary to identify individual connections. The user can manually add more columns by clicking the Configure Columns button and selecting the desired columns.

Each export request is placed in the export queue as an export can contain a lot of data. The user receives an email when the export is finished. The export can then be downloaded from the export overview. Export remains available for 10 days.

On request, a full export can be scheduled per user by Gridsz. The scheduled export appears in the user export overview screen. An email is sent when the scheduled export is finished.
